Patrick has been working a lot this week to prepare for the Division I swim meet taking place this weekend in Lawrence. During the day yesterday, Sarah's former roommate, Kristi, stopped by and they were able to catch up. Sarah and Kristi are going to New York at the end of March to visit their other former roommate, Julie!

This picture is of Elle looking outside at the snow
On Saturday we awoke to snow. When Elle looked outside and saw the snow she said, "can we go sliding?" Sarah thought there was no way that she would take the kids sledding because it would be difficult to do so on her own. However, a short while later she changed her mind and took the kids sledding. We haven't had many chances for sledding this winter, and as this is hopefully the last snow of the winter, she wanted the kids to have the opportunity to go sledding. This was a mistake. A big mistake. Although they went to a small hill very close to the house, Jay fell asleep on the way there. He woke up when the car stopped and started screaming. Sarah got Elle out of the car and helped her bundle up in her snow jacket, gloves, and hat. Then, she got Jay out and bundled him up. He screamed the entire time. Then, they started walking to the hill. It was still snowing and the wind was blowing. Sarah was hoping Elle would walk with her, but she was having trouble walking in the snow, so Sarah had her get in the sled. So, Sarah walked to the hill, pulling Elle in her sled and holding a screaming Jay. They finally made it to the bottom of the hill and Elle said she had dropped her hat. Sarah decided to leave the hat, put up Elle's hood, and get the hat on the way back. Unfortunately, trying to pull Elle up the hill while holding a screaming Jay was not easy. They must have a been quite a sight. Sarah nearly bit it a couple of times on the way up the hill. Finally, they made it up the hill. Sarah turned the sled around and pushed Elle, but she didn't go anywhere. So, Sarah essentially pushed Elle the entire way down the hill. Of course, Jay was continuing to scream. They didn't try to go up or down the hill again. Instead, they retrieved the hat and headed back to the car. Jay fell asleep on the way home. He was just tired and it was probably a bad time to take them. Here is a picture of the kids in the car right after our sledding disaster:

Later that evening Sarah took the kids to the pet store to get dog and cat food. When we go to the pet store, the routine is normally to look at all of the animals and then pick up the food. We started by looking at the fish. Elle pointed out the fish that looked like Nemo. We then saw the ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, and rats. We finished at the birds. Elle had a great time looking at the cockatiels. The cockatiels were playing with each other and jumping on a hanging ball in their cage. Elle laughed and them and said, "those are funny chickens!" It was really cute.
This morning Sarah took the kids to Dillons for a treat of donuts. They have so many fancy donuts now a days. Donuts with gummy worms, donuts with m&m's, and donuts with crushed oreos. Elle wanted the m&m donut, but settled on a sprinkle star donut with a basketball on top. Perhaps the donuts were decorated special for the KU vs. MU basketball game today (KU creamed MU by the way)!!!
