Jay's first birthday

Here's a picture of Jay not wanting to wear his birthday hat/crown

Our little man is already a year old!  He had his first birthday on Tuesday.  We didn't do anything big, like have a party.  We just had a small celebration with the four of us.  The dining room was decorated with balloons and streamers.  Patrick made a two tier cake, which was decorated with sprinkle frosting.  Patrick and Sarah bought Jay clothes for his birthday- some shorts for this summer and some heavier clothes for next fall/winter.  Jay was very lucky and received lots of thoughtful gifts from everyone, including cards, money, a bike trailer, cd's, Little Tyke toys, and plush dinosaurs to name a few things.  Unfortunately Jay had a temperature on his big day.  You can see how rosy his cheeks are in the pictures.  He's feeling better now, though.

Our quest to pick a preschool continued this week.  It's weird that there is so much thought into picking a type of preschool.  It just seems like we have spent a lot of time and consideration on this matter.  There aren't this many options available for elementary, middle or high school.  Why are there so many choices for picking a place where essentially your child is just going to play and learn social skills?

On Friday night both kids slept very poorly.  They kept waking each other up, so of course Patrick and Sarah didn't get much sleep.  It was definitely not a normal night in our house.  WE were all tired and crabby the following day.  On Saturday we started to feel pretty bored and housebound, so we decided to go "antiquing" and went to the antique shops in North Lawrence.  I think we are all ready to be done with the cool weather.  We are looking forward to warm weather and lots of outdoor activities.

For the next 3 weekends Patrick has swim meets, so we won't be seeing a lot of him unfortunately.  This coming weekend is Division II's in Lawrence.  Then, he'll leave the first Thursday in March for Sectionals in Oklahoma City.  Then, he'll finish the trio with Division I's in Wichita.
